STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN! Jan. 28 free “Musical Safari” family event at Menil Collection features Da Camera young artists
Da Camera of Houston and The Menil Collection present a free Stop,
Look and Listen! event, A Musical Safari, featuring the Da Camera Young
Artists on Saturday, January 28 at 3:00 PM in The Menil Collection’s
main building. Combine a visit to the museum (where admission is always
free) with interactive and informative concerts. The Menil Collection is
located at 1515 Sul Ross, with free parking in the lot on West Alabama
between Mandell and Mulberry. The recommended age for this event is 5
and up.
At this Stop, Look and Listen! event, musicians from Da Camera’s Young
Artist Program perform A Musical Safari, an interactive concert for
children that features performances on many different instruments. The
musicians present a broad range of music while younger audience members
“hunt” for woodwinds, strings and percussion throughout the concert. The
event features the woodwind quintet WindSync, a string trio and a
piano/vocal/percussion trio.
This year, Da Camera is proud to introduce the third class of Da Camera
Young Artists. The Young Artists work with Da Camera throughout the
year, conceiving adventurous community concerts and educational
programs. Da Camera selected this elite group of young professional
instrumentalists and composers through a rigorous, competitive audition
process. Da Camera’s Young Artists have been challenged to create new
strategies for sharing music in traditional concerts and in schools. Da
Camera Young Artists hold degrees from our nation’s top music
conservatories and represent the highest quality collection of young,
creative musical talent Houston has to offer.
Part of Da Camera’s Beyond the Concert Hall program of educational
events, Stop, Look and Listen is a free concert. For more information,
