HCC
Enrollment Passes 70,000
Spring 2010 Enrollment Hits All New High
Enrollment at Houston Community College continues to
grow in this challenging economic environment. So far this spring, HCC
has enrolled 70,027 students, breaking the 70,000 mark for the first
time in the history of the college. If this trend continues, enrollment
for Spring 2010 should reach 72,000 by the end of the semester.
Houston-area residents are turning to HCC in record numbers to provide
them with the education necessary to successfully continue their studies
at major universities or skills training and technical education needed
to improve employment potential.
The count represents unduplicated enrollment, meaning
each student that walks through HCC doors is counted only once,
regardless if they are enrolled in more than one program at any given
college or attend classes at two or more colleges. This spring’s
enrollment is up 14.75% from last year. Enrollment gains are being seen
at each of HCC’s six colleges, as well as a 23% increase in Distance
Education and Dual Credit is up 17%.
