Horses
arrive for Saddle Up for NAM project
On the afternoon of June 23rd, fourteen life-sized,
fiberglass horses arrived at Vintage Park for the Saddle Up for NAM
project. Ten of the horses were adults and four were foals. On hand to
greet the horses were NAM President & CEO Carole Little, Melissa
Goedde from Vintage Park, Jeans & Jewels co-chairs Carol Cobb and
Linda Fowler, and other NAM supporters.
The horses will be painted by local artists selected
by a panel of judges and then displayed throughout the community. During
the time the horses are being painted, they will be “stabled” at
Vintage Park.
For a $3,500 sponsorship, individuals or businesses
may display a painted horse on their property for several weeks leading
up to NAM’s Jeans & Jewels Gala. The sponsorship also includes a
half page ad in the Jeans & Jewels gala program.
The Jeans & Jewels gala, NAM’s largest annual
fund raising event, will be held on October 16, 2010 at The Woodlands
Waterway Marriott. The horses will be auctioned off at the Gala, raising
more funds for NAM.
Interested individuals or businesses may also order a
custom painted horse for a sponsorship of $10,000, which also includes
the donor’s name on a plaque at the base of the horse and a full page
ad in the Jeans & Jewels program. The custom horses belong to their
sponsors, and will not be auctioned off.
“I was so excited to see the horses arrive,” said
Gala co-chair Linda Fowler. “Our panel of judges has selected some
incredible designs, and I cannot wait to see the artists complete their
work!”
Co-chair Carol Cobb said, “We have already sold
twelve of these horses, and we may order more if there is interest in
the community. We have had an overwhelming response so far, and are
thrilled that this first-time project will be such a successful fund
raiser for NAM!”
