Lone Star Symphonic Band begins 19th Performance Season; concerts scheduled from October 2011 — July 2012
The Lone Star Symphonic Band is celebrating its 19th season of
performing concerts for Houston-area residents with a series of concerts
scheduled from October 2011 through July 2012. Season tickets for all
five concerts for $25.00 each are available through the Band’s website
at www.lonestarsymphonicband.com. Individual concert tickets are also
available for $5.50 each on the website. Tickets may be purchased at the
door the day of the concert for $10.00 each.
All concerts this season will be performed in the auditorium at
Crosspoint Community Church, located at 700 S. Westgreen, Katy, TX. The
church is located one block south of I-10 on Westgreen Blvd.
The first concert in Lone Star Symphonic Band’s 19th season is titled
Look What I’ve Found. The concert will be on Sunday, October 16th, 2011
beginning at 4:00 pm. This concert is an eclectic collection of songs
that the Band has prepared. Think of a large garage sale! This concert
will also feature Robert Daniel, guest Tuba Soloist. Mr. Daniel is
Adjunct Professor of Tuba at Sam Houston State University, and is a
member of the Sam Houston Brass Quintet. Prior to coming to SHSU, he was
principal tubist with The United States Air Force Band, Washington D.C.
As a member of the U.S. Air Force Band for 22 years, he performed in all
50 fifty states in the USA and 8 countries around the world. Mr. Daniel
has been active as a soloist and has been featured with a variety of
ensembles including the U.S. Army Concert Band, U.S. Air Force Concert
Band, String Orchestra, and Chamber Players as well as numerous
university and community bands throughout the United States.
The holiday inspired concert for the 2011-2012 Season is titled …Good
Tidings of Great Joy. It is scheduled for Sunday, December 11th, 2011 at
4:00 pm. Traditional and contemporary Christmas and Chanukah pieces are
slated for this concert to help get everyone in the Holiday spirit!
Springtime will welcome the Lone Star Symphonic Band’s third concert of
the season, with It’s Springtime in Texas to be performed on Sunday,
March 4th, 2012. The concert will begin at 4:00 pm.
Travel, from road trips to space exploration, is the theme of the Band’s
fourth concert of the season, aptly titled Off We Go… The Band’s travel
concert is departing on Sunday, May 4th, 2012 at 4:00 pm.
The final concert of the Band’s 19th season is its annual patriotic
concert, titled American Salute. It will be held on Sunday, July 1st,
2012, at 4:00 pm.
Lone Star Symphonic Band is a non-profit volunteer organization
dedicated to bringing performances of artistic merit to the Houston
metropolitan area. Founded in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band, the
band is comprised of musicians from all walks of life and instills the
value that music is a life-long event, continuing well beyond high
school and college. In the summer of 2011, the Band entered into a joint
venture with Crosspoint Community Church, in Katy, Texas. The Band is
under the direction of Mr. Bob Bryant.
