Bike Trail along T.C. Jester at North Loop to be closed for two years due to construction
The White Oak Hike and Bike Trail along T.C. Jester, underneath the
IH 610 North Loop, will be closed while construction on the IH 610 North
Loop progresses through the area. The trail is estimated to reopen in
the fall 2013.
Bicyclists and pedestrians will need to use the signed detour routes to
avoid the area underneath IH 610.
● Northbound Detour - use Ella northbound to
34th Street, westbound on 34th Street to E. T.C. Jester.
● Southbound Detour - use 34th eastbound to
Ella, southbound on Ella to E. T.C. Jester.
The closure is part of the ongoing work on the IH 610 North Loop from
Ella to the IH 610/US 290 interchange as part of the US 290 Program's
$151.5 million IH 610/US 290 reconstruction project. Construction crews
will be working on the total demolition and reconstruction of the four
IH 610 mainlane and frontage road bridges at T.C. Jester. For the safety
of the traveling public and construction crews, the hike and bike trail
will remain closed until the four bridges are rebuilt.
Safety of the traveling public is a priority of the Texas Department of
Transportation (TxDOT) and bicyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to
follow the detour route and avoid the trail underneath IH 610.
